Electricity in Bannock County is provided by Idaho Power. The company distributes electric energy throughout a 20,000 square mile area in southern Idaho and Eastern Oregon, and reports some of the lowest rates in the nation. Idaho Power relies heavily on hydroelectric power to meet generation requirements and is one of the nation's few investor-owned utilities with a predominantly hydroelectric generating base.
